Eduardo Kobra is one of the most beloved figures in global street art. Hundreds of his photorealistic murals are spread across five continents and dozens of countries, from Japan to Malawi to Norway. Taking celebrities and other icons as his subjects, Kobra produces large-scale, kaleidoscopic paintings, each composed of hundreds of repeating shapes. One of his most recognized works is The Kiss (2002) in New York City, a towering mural that reinterpreted in rainbow hues the famous V-J Day embrace between a sailor and his partner, documented by photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt. Kobra also produces large-scale mixed-media paintings in his signature geometric style, which is inspired by pichação, or Brazilian graffiti, and the graffiti styles of his native São Paulo.
